So love me some old westerns. Spent
the a.m. watching Rooster Cogburn
w/my lover and I was reminded of just
how much. John Wayne never disappoints;
case in point, The Cowboys, phenomenal
movie. And True Grit . . . wow!
Remember seeing several renditions
re Wyatt Earp . . . some of absolute
faves . . . especially love those with
Hugh O'Brian, Kevin O'Brian, Kevin
Costner, Kurt Russell.
James Garner did himself proud in
Maverick and I just adore Magnificent
Seven! Dances with Wolves and although
sad, Bury my Heart at Wounded Knee is
beyond amazing.
Some of the newer westerns blow me away.
Broken Trail, Open Range. I didn't really
expect to like Tom Selleck so much, but
when he came out with Monte Walsh and
Crossfire Trail, I fell under his olde west
spell. And did you see Quigley down Under?
Loved the hell out of it!
I guess what I love about recognizing this
is the realization that one can step out of
one's usual and find some fun in other
arenas. Always something to learn in the
new, isn't there! Think I'll spend the
afternoon with Jesse Stone! Best ever!
born in the wrong time
so wish the experience
the days of time past
