I remember my hometown teachers
with such affection. Mamie Echols in
first grade, Miss Lee in second, Mrs.
Northrup in third and forth. She was
married to the school custodian and
it was amazing that their names were
Opal and Emerald. Go figure. Joyce
Morse taught us in fifth and sixth and
then we got our first male teacher. I
can just remember how thrilled we
were. Mr. Wildman was the first,
followed by Mr. Nick, Mr. Sample,
and Mr. Thompson.
I find it interesting and a bit strange
how I remember all their names, but
can't recall any from high school or
college. Although, I do remember the
names of my teachers in Mexico.
I feel for those teachers introducing
education to our young children. It
can affect their feelings regarding
school for the rest of their lives. And,
how I loved school and the teachers
who taught me. So glad I became a
teacher!!!
so love their young minds
a grand privilege to teach
missing the classroom
