I have to chuckle, we have been planning
on visiting a friend we haven't seen in a
couple of years. So, in asking for updated
directions, we've exchanged several e-mails.
She sent me the new directions; I asked for
clarification; she did so and in the interest
of making sure we actually arrive, I re-sent
the corrected version to make certain they
were right. My friend writes back, "You're
confusing me!" I wanted to respond, "Street
where I live," but I thought better of it as it
would have sounded quite glib. But actually,
in life, I suppose we all do a lot of these back
and forth attempts at understanding. We
have a need to make certain we're on the
right track, that we're getting it right . . .
want to understand
i so want to get it right
want to be present
