Awoke sobbing this freezing
morn. Dreamt of my father . . .
God, I miss him oh so much!
I found myself in my classroom
with my dad as the guest speaker
of the day. In the dream, he had
just come in from his travels and
was going to provide a slide show
for my students.
I was ever so pleased to be in my
classroom once again, but seeing
my father rather rocked my world!
I remember getting the students
situated, lights off, projector on
and then I sat next to dad in the
back of the room and threw my
arm around him.
As kids will do, they began to get
restless. I went up front to settle
them down and noticed my dad
bending over in his chair and
holding his head.
I hurried to the back of the room
to see what was wrong and ever
so slowly, he simply faded away.
Oh, the sorrow I felt at that
moment! The heartache was so
painful it woke me, my cheeks
still wet from my tears.
Shakespeare had it right . . .
"Parting is such sweet sorrow,
that I shall say goodnight 'til it
be tomorrow."
