"Junteenth is a federal holiday
in the US commemorating the
emancipation of enslaved
African Americans. It is
celebrated on the anniversary
of the order by Major General
Gordon Granger proclaiming
the freedom for enslaved people
in Texas on June 19, 1865."

Texas having been much in
the news of late, it's nice to be
reminded of this positive note.
All throughout history, peoples
other, have been mistreated,
denigrated, maligned. When
and where does it stop?
Methinks today is a good day
for self-commitment. It starts
here, with moi. I want to stand
and be counted for equality,
the loving, decent treatment of
all.
As we each stand for what is
right, those wondrous concentric
circles radiate out, overlap, and
bring courage.
Let's do this!
