"I only have the power to
change myself, and that is
a life's work." ~Byron Katie

A brilliant thought, make
no mistake . . .

Obviously, in our lives
we tend to watch others,
critique their lives and
forget all about our own.

One of the things I truly
appreciate about aging is
the wisdom accrued. Alas,
I have yet to achieve the
wisdom I seek.

Still, surely I'm old enough
to grow?! To learn some-
new?!

I could almost chuckle, but
'tis a serious matter after all.
The things I want to change
in my 70's are the same I
wished to change in my 30's.

Sooooo, when the hell am
I going to grow already?
Having said that, have to
keep at this whole growing
bit!!!

My heart so hurts this
early morn . . .

Our LGBTQ building
and four other gay-
friendly businesses
were broken into this
weekend.

Is it really that difficult
for us to accept each
other?! What in heaven's
name gives us the right
to put down anyone's
birthright?!

Let's be reminded . . .

. . . the rainbow has
many colors!

"Stillness is where clarity
lives." ~Zen proverb

Finding bits of wisdom
this early morn; sooooo
recognizing the need!

Alas, methinks I was
born nervous. Up and
down, up and down.
Oh the stories my fam
and friends could tell!

How does one learn
calm? Sitting quietly is
an art; make no mistake.
And, I truly believe quiet
listening is where truth
is finally learned, finally
found.

Perhaps this is one of
those occasions where
practice comes into play.

Frankly, how could I ever
learn if I don't try over
and over?!

I'm thinking! I'm thinking!

Champagne anyone?!

There we were, minding
our own business . . .

. . . okay, watching a movie,
and we started to notice . . .

In the movie, we counted
something like umpteen
times the mention of . . .

 . . . champagne.

I rather think 'twas the
universe making a sweet
suggestion. What were
we to do?!

I happened to have just
the one bottle in the fridge,
didn't I?! Sooooo, what do
you think happened then?!

"People say walking on
water is a miracle, but to
me, walking peacefully on
earth is the real miracle."
~Thich Nhát Hanh

'Tis a man from whom
I have much to learn!

I discovered his writings
when I was but a young
lass. And, although I am
a Pantheist, I certainly
have Buddhist leanings.

Speaking of learning . . .
having grown up at my
father's knee, one of the
things he taught me was
to try and learn from
everyone, everywhere.

I even have come to see
that one can learn much
from those quite negative.
We learn what to stay
away from, what not to do.

I so pray I learn every
single day, right down to
my last breath!

Blessed be . . .

Sooooo . . .

 . . . who the hell do I
want to be when I grow
up?!

I do keep wondering!
Seems like I've lived
many a life this one
time around.

There was that sweet,
innocent, 'lil gal I was
once upon a time. Then
came that rather crazy
teen who ran away from
home at 15 . . .

 . . . then onto Mexico
from 17-37. Most phenom,
motherhood and teaching.
And now the unbelievable,
elder years in a tiny 1876
cabin.

Once again I find myself
asking, "Who the hell do
I want to be when I grow
up?! How much longer
do I have to get there? Or,
am I already there, caso?"

Alas, 'tis a quandary this
whole growing up thing.
Indeed, when are where
does it ever happen?

"The highest form of
knowledge is empathy,
for it requires us to
suspend our egos and
live in another's world."
~Plato

Such wisdom from tomes
of yesteryear . . .

Alas, not all are given the
gift of empathy. Make no
mistake, empathy is ever
so important.

Lacking empathy is one
of life's greatest sorrows.
We need to be able to
understand what others
are going through in order
to be better human beings.

So yes, look on the bright
side. But, let's all try to
understand the sorrows
others are going through.

Methinks, empathy brings
about wisdom!

10/19/2025, morn of the day after . . .

OMG! Such fun!!
Sooooo enjoyed my
b-day yesterday!

Coffee by the fire
with my bestie . . .

Fab toasted bagels
to share . . .

Pesto pizza so delish
I wouldn't have shared
for love nor money . . .

Pressies and apple pie . . .

And the craziest thing
ever, didn't have a drink
on my b-day. I must be
losing it! Ha!

And still 13 days left to
celebrate the best month
ever!

Methinks, I feel a mimosa
coming on!!!

Let's party . . .

"Oh what a beautiful morning,
Oh what a beautiful day,
I have a wonderful feeling,
Everything's going my way."
~Williamson

Feeling both incredibly lucky
and grateful this early day.

Celebrating my 176, I mean
my 76th, ha! Today is starting
out quite windy and a tad rainy.

'Tis rather just a day as I ever
and always celebrate the entire
month. I so love October. Not
much into Fall and oncoming
Winter, still, October rocks . . .

   (1 - 30) B-dys
   (02) Yom Kippur
   (07) First Super Moon
   (13) Indigenous People's Day
   (18) Moi
   (21) Diwali
   (31) Samhain
   (31) Halloween

See?! One of the most fun
months ever! Do enjoy these
last couple of weeks!

October R O C K S !!!

So love me some eves . . .

Yule eve, x-mas eve,
and today is the eve of
my b-day . . . as well as
my cousin Nancy's b-day.

With an eve, you have
all the anticipation of the
day you'll be celebrating
along with cheating a tad
and celebrating early.

Love it!

This eve will bring a fire
in the hearth, a tad of red
and a sharing of friendship.

I like to think it's my last
hurrah at 75. More likely
is that I'm already 76 less
just a few hours.

Bottom line . . . I feel ever
so lucky to be alive!!!

Blessed be . . .

"I said to my soul, be still,
and wait...So the darkness
shall be the light, and the
stillness the dancing."
~T. S. Eliot

Such wisdom from a great
of yesteryear . . .

I love the depth and tidbits
of wisdom to be found in
lines from these amazing
liturgos.

I find I absolutely must
have a bit of their wisdom
in my daily life. Reading
from their daily experiences
as opposed to mine, bring
other points of view to me
and mine.

Ever so grateful . . .

"Time is like a river.
You cannot touch the
same water twice because
the flow that passed will
never pass again. Enjoy
every moment of life."
Ancient Pagan Roots

Over and over again, I
remind myself to live in
the present.

Seems I spend little time
there . . . mostly recalling
the past and looking to the
future.

In all fairness, times past
need remembering and the
future requires some plans.
Still, why overlook the
space in which we find
ourselves now?!

Today I am making the
effort. Right now matters.
And, I do wish to enjoy
every moment of life . . .
of this day!

Blessed be.

"The world is full of
poems, but you have to
be quiet to hear them."
~Mary Oliver

Alas, indeed we live in a
noisy, noisy world! Feel
like I can't hear myself
think half the time . . .

So love me that old mixed
metaphor, "Slow down and
listen."

I'm trying for it all . . . the
whole slowing down thing,
making the effort to listen,
And really, truly hearing.

I want the peace the quiet
brings. I need to hear the
poems Mother Nature shares.

In this loud, noisy world . . .
quick of pace and slow to
forgive, I long to learn the
art of being quiet.

"Sometimes you have
to let go of the picture
of what you thought life
would be like and learn
to find joy in the story
you're actually living."
~Rachel Marie Martin

Having been reared on
Cinderella stories and
other fables, I must
chuckle as my own real
life shows no comparison.

Doesn't mean I haven't
had a good life, just dif
than expected as a child.

Best of all, my children!
Followed by 40 years of
glorious teaching. And
now, enjoying retirement
(somewhat hampered by
old age, ha!).

Alas, so many are not
given the gift of life.
Methinks we should
cherish every moment.

Needs be . . . lose the
complaints already!

"Your time on earth
is limited. Don't try to
age with grace, age with
mischief, audacity, and
a good story to tell."
~Case Kenny

Brilliant!

Words of wisdom can
be found in the strangest
places!

Mine is a serious nature.
Even my own attempts at
humor are rarely understood.

I often forget that fun, the
humorous side of life and
good times are important
as well.

Obviously, I'm at the other
end of life . . . no idea just
how much I have left. So,
methinks might be a good
idea to enjoy this lighter
side of life!

Maybe I could start with
one liners!

"Negative thoughts are
like clouds. When they
enter your mind, let them
pass. Stay positive."
~muses from a mystic

Staying positive requires
much attention and a great
deal of work, make no
mistake!

'Tis one of the greatest
truths that has come to
me in my dotage.

It occurs to me, positivity
brings many a gift to the
table! Methinks it clearly
elongates life. And, were
this not the case, it still
takes life to a better place,
a higher plane.

Surely positivity gives us
greater strength to deal
with those daily battles
with which we are faced.

Albeit health issues,
familial misunderstandings,
scarcity of funds . . . facing
these and more with smiles,
hope and faith seduces
success.

And surely, positivity begets
all things positive . . .

Blessed be.

10/09/2025 - Dedicated to Heidi Cox

She seems to think 'tis
her b-day . . . so she's
headed off to Never
Never Land!

Methinks, as her Fairy
Godmother, I should
follow in tow. Alas, she
has it in her head she's
old enough to go on her
own. Go figure!

I can only imagine the
naughties she'll be getting
herself into. I ask . . .

"Shouldn't I be there to
help out?! Oh well, I wish
her luck.

Do so love me these crazy
days of October, the absolute
funnest time of the year!

And, hey there missy, do
enjoy your time away and

No can do believe my
guy!

Starting about 2:00 a.m.
he got up every half an
hour to check out the
moon.

Finally about 5:00, he
decided 'twas time I had
a look-see. And, from
then on, we did the every
half hour thing together!

I have to smile . . . he's
sun and pays attention to
the moon and I'm moon
and pay attention to the
sun.

Methinks must mean we
are made for each other.

"Light a candle while you
fold laundry. Put fresh
flowers on your desk while
you work. Brew your coffee
like it's a ceremony. These
small acts of intentionality
transform routine into ritual,
tasks into treasures, and
moments into memories."
~Vex King

Found this delightful quote
this early morn . . .

Rather wish the entire world
could see it and be so inspired.

Chores are mundane for a
reason. What could it hurt to
spice them up a tad?!

   -Music whilst cooking
-Ask hub's help to make bed
   -Ice cream for doing dishes

All of us have tasks and errands
when we'd rather be at the beach
taking in the sun.

Not living near a beach at this
time, methinks I'd do well to
spice up my daily do list . . .

 . . . one way or another!

I would so love to write
but I'll be busy w/Day 4
of mole making . . .

As soon as I get done
with the dentist today,

(!@#$%^&*()_+)

I'll be devouring mole
every little while . . .

Delish! Delightful!!
Divine!

10/05/2025

Today is Day 3 of my
annual mole making . . .

Rather beyond exhausting
but over the top phenom
at the end of the day!

Day 1 is stem, seed, soak!
As I tend to make a lot, it
takes a lot of time.

Day 2 is slow boil for hrs
and Day 3 is blend, sift
three times over.

Then comes the seasoning
part . . . I have a list of 99
ingredients I like to add.
In reality, I probably use
anywhere from 40 - 60.

Slow boiling, seasoning,
tasting . . . and finally we
get to eat. Sooooo enjoy
it over rice and beans,
enchiladas!

I can already feel the
scales tipping upward,
but ever so worth it!

Like a taste?

"I hope I never tire of
the night sky, of watching
cream make galaxies in
my coffee. I hope I never
grow to be someone who
can no longer see the small
beautiful things." spilled ink

One of the things I like about
being older is the joy I find
in the small things.

-Sitting on the porch with a
friend watching the night
lights turn on . . .

-Ice cream for breakfast in
bed . . .

-An unexpected compliment . . .

-A card in the mailbox . . .

All sweet, small gifts that
make my day ever so lovely!

Thanking the Universe ever
and always!

"You cannot get through a
single day without having
an impact on the world
around you. What you do
makes a difference, and
you have to decide what
kind of difference you
want to make."
~Dr. Jane Goodall

I bow at the feet of this
incredible woman. What
an example she is for us
all.

She is a shero for all time!
I use 'is' rather than 'was'
because she lives within
our hearts forever and
always.

We obviously cannot be
her. Still, it's important that
we too make a difference
in our own way.

Maybe for us it may be
a smile at someone who
seems sad. Perhaps an
unexpected compliment.
Reaching up high at the
supermarket for an old
gal who's otherwise too
short.

Methinks we tend to
believe that if our acts
aren't grand, they don't
matter. Bottom line,
they do matter.

Doing the small things
brighten the days on
both sides of the fence.

Let's do this!!!

"The best thing about
getting older is becoming
clear on what does and
doesn't matter."
~Anita Opper

Sooooo like this! Indeed,
clarity seems to come
with age. Wish it could
be sooner, but seems age
is a requirement.

Having been at death's door
myself, I simply have no
issue with aging. 'Tis a fab
blessing, make no mistake!

Every time I hear someone
complaining about aging, I
always think, "Consider the
alternative!"

Here's moi, looking forward
to my 76th year. Need to
listen to my own advice and
stop complaining. Looking
forward to what may be
coming.

May I be up for anything
and everything!!!

10/01/2025

Finally!!!

I look forward all year to
October, my birth month!
Thought it would never
come . . .

And, the first four days
promise to be lovely. I'll
be sitting outside by the
pond, enjoying the last
of the good weather and
raising my marg to the
sun!

I like to do something
special each day of the
month. This time around,
I'm keeping it simple.

As I turned 75 last year,
I went a tad crazy and the
result was gaining 20 lb.
Funny, took me one mo
to gain it and nine mo to
take it off . . . a full
gestation period . . . go
figure!

Today, we're off to town
for my fave pizza. My
tasks for the month, make
a new spice mix and . . .
MOLE!!!

Can hardly wait . . .
