This Forest Within Me
Alas, methinks our world
today has forgotten even
this word . . . gentleness.
Everywhere you go . . .
you can hear parents
shouting at their kids,
drivers giving the finger,
cutting people off.
How did we become so
impatient? When did we
leave kindness behind?
Where are our smiles in
greeting?
My heart hurts!
